Dibru Saikhowa National Park is a wildlife national park in Tinsukia,Assam,India. The park is bounded by Brahmaputra and Lohit rivers in the north and Dibru river in the south. It is situated in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia of Assam. It is the largest salix swamp forest in north east India. Situated in the flood plains of the Brahmaputra and the Lohit, at an altitude of 118 m above sea level, Dibru-Saikhowa is a haven for many endangered species. Due to the auto stocking by the Brahmaputra and Dibru river, it is rich in fish diversity.
Currently, the park is one of the nineteen biodiversity
hotspots in the world. It mainly consists of semi wet evergreen forests,
tropical moist deciduous forest, bamboo, cane brakes and grasslands.
It is an heavenly abode for many extremely rare
and endangered species of wildlife, including over 300 species of
avifauna both endangered and migratory, as well as various species of
shrubs, herbs and rare medicinal plants.
Originally created to help conserve the habitat of the rare white-winged wood duck, the park is also home to other rare creatures such as water buffalo, black-breasted parrot bill, tiger and capped langur. The park also has some eco- lodges.
It is just 55kms from the town of Tinsukia. The park is well connected by road, rail and air. November to April is the ideal season to visit the park and enjoy the view of migratory birds and the rich flora and fauna. This place is really amazing. The serene and luscious environment will
